31 year old Melissa Hasley was last seen in Des Moines, Iowa on October 18, 2002. She was last seen at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue.
Background
Melissa has three children. She previously lived in Orlando, Florida and Adel, Iowa. She had been involved with drugs and prostitution, but loved ones say she would never abandon her children.
Disappearance
On the night of October 18, 2002, Melissa Hasley attended a party at the Oak Ridge Apartments. She then went to another party at an apartment complex located in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was last seen at the apartment complex on Grand Avenue between 11:45pm-1:45am. It is believed she left through the alley door on the north side of the building.
Melissa hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Investigation
A witness reports seeing Melissa in the bathroom with two other people at Grand River apartment party. They later saw her sitting on the fire escape.
When the fire door alarm went off, witnesses believe Melissa left the building though the alley door on the north side of the building.
In August 2006, Melissa’s older sister, Georgina Kimble, was murdered in the Des Moines Capital Heights apartments at 1414 East Walnut Street. 48 year old Keith Parker subsequently confessed to the murder and was charged with first degree murder. Georgina, like her sister, left behind three children.
No direct evidence linking Georgina’s murder to Melissa’s disappearance has been found.
Appearance
White female with blonde hair and hazel eyes. Melissa stands 5’4-5’5 tall and weighs 90-105 pounds.
Her ears are pierced, and the left side of her nose is pierced. She has a a 1 inch scar on her left thigh, needle marks on both arms, and a scar on her forehead, right arm, abdomen, and right hip.
Melissa does not have permanent teeth: all of her baby teeth are still present.

Melissa was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and a beige jacket.
