The Disappearance of Jennifer Wilson

29 year old Jennifer Wilson was last seen in Derby, Kansas on September 1, 2002. She disappeared after having a fight with her roommate.

Background

At the time of her disappearance, Jennifer was working at Jezebel’s, a now defunct gentleman’s club in Wichita, Kansas. She lived with a female roommate, who also worked at the club, at a home east of Derby.

Disappearance

On September 1, 2002, Jennifer Wilson was last seen at her residence in the vicinity of 143rd Street East and 63rd Street South in Derby, Kansas.

Jennifer and her roommate had gotten into a fight at the club where they worked, and the argument continued after they arrived home.

Wilson’s roommate says she left the residence, and found Jennifer gone when she returned.

All of Jennifer’s belongings, including her vehicle and dog, a white German Shepherd named Sadie that she usually took with her everywhere, were left behind.

It wasn’t unusual for Jennifer to be out of touch with her mother, so her family wasn’t immediately concerned. However, a year and a half after her disappearance, her mother learned the roommate had gotten another job and was using Jennifer’s Social Security Number, prompting her to report her daughter missing.

Investigation

Jennifer’s roommate has given several stories to people about her disappearance, including that she had moved to Kansas City, and that she had been making withdrawals from her bank account.

The roommate also told at least two different stories about what happened to Jennifer’s dog that disappeared shortly after she did. None of these stories could be verified by investigators.

The roommate has not officially been named a suspect.

Investigators used cadaver dogs to search the fields behind the home where Jennifer and her roommate lived, but no clues as to her whereabouts were found.

Authorities believe Jenifer may have been the victim of a homicide. She was declared legally dead in 2013.

Jennifer’s mother purchased a cemetery plot for her, in hopes of being able to lay her to rest one day.
